3 Rituals recipes for homemade iced tea

From soothing our mood and giving us health-boosting antioxidants to cooling us off when the temperature’s on the rise, iced tea is the ultimate summer drink. But the bottled stuff is all too often full of sugars and mystery ingredients. Stay healthy while you sip with these three easy and delicious recipes.

 

1. Green tea & rose petal iced tea

Preparation time: 15 minutes plus 2 hours of chilling in the fridge

Ingredients for 1 litre

  • 4 tea bags
  • 1 l boiling water
  • 60 ml maple syrup (or honey, or agave syrup)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 pink grapefruit in slices, plus 1 extra for garnishing
  • 10 twigs of fresh rosemary

Preparation

1. Boil the water and pour it into a jug. Drop the tea bags into the water and let steep for at least 10 minutes.

 

2. While the tea is steeping, cut the grapefruit in slices. Remove the tea bags from the water, giving them a final squeeze. You want the tea to be nice and strong.

 

3. Pour 60 ml of maple syrup and the lemon juice into the tea.

 

4. Add approximately 5 twigs of the fresh rosemary twigs and 3 or 4 slices of pink grapefruit to the jug. Put the jug in the fridge to chill for 2 hours.

 

5. Fill a glass with some (halved) grapefruit slices, rosemary twigs and ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over it. Add a straw and sip away!

 

2. Ginger iced tea

Preparation time: 15 minutes plus 2 hours of chilling in the fridge

Ingredients for 1 litre

  • 4 tea bags
  • 1 l boiling water
  • 60 ml maple syrup (or honey, or agave syrup)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 large orange, sliced, plus 1 extra for garnishing
  • 1 sprig of fresh thyme (approximately 15 g)
  • 10 thin slices of fresh ginger

 

Preparation

1. Boil the water and pour it into a jug. Drop the tea bags into the water and let steep for at least 10 minutes.

 

2. While the tea is steeping, cut the orange and ginger in slices. Remove the tea bags from the water, giving them a final squeeze. You want the tea to be nice and strong.

 

3. Pour 60 ml of maple syrup and the lemon juice into the tea.

 

4. Add the fresh thyme, 4 orange slices and a handful of thinly sliced ginger to the jug. Put the jug in the fridge to chill for 2 hours.

 

5. Fill a glass with some (halved) orange slices, thyme twigs, two ginger slices and ice cubes. Pour the chilled tea over it and you’re good to go!

 

3. Lemon & ginger iced tea

Preparation time: 15 minutes plus 2 hours of chilling in the fridge

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 large lemons, sliced, plus some extra for garnishing
  • 10 fresh mint twigs (also for garnishing)
  • 10 thin slices of fresh ginger

Preparation

1. Boil the water and pour it into a jug. Drop the tea bags into the water and let steep for at least 10 minutes.

 

2. While the tea is steeping, cut the lemons and ginger in slices. Remove the tea bags from the water, giving them a final squeeze. You want the tea to be nice and strong.

 

3. Pour 60 ml of maple syrup and the lemon juice into the tea.

 

4. Add 4-5 twigs of fresh mint, 5 lemon slices and a handful of thinly sliced ginger to the jug. Let the jug chill in the fridge for 2 hours.

 

5. Fill a glass with some lemon slices, fresh mint twigs, two ginger slices and ice cubes. Pour the chilled tea over it and enjoy!
